More About the Site

Lamplit is a website owned and administrated by RiverCocytus, which serves as a place to think out loud. The former versions of this site (Water Under The Bridge) tended towards a negative, more curmudgeonly tone and subject. However, in such an environs it is easy to overstep the bounds of tact or merely whine.

The subtitle of this site is twofold; the main page will say, 'Visions, Thoughts, Remarks' - this is the motto or vision statement if you will. When the author sits down to this blog, he considers this as the proper format for his communication. Much of what is discussed here is speculative, in the tone of, he hopes, musing. The subject matter may not be considered in all cases appropriate for the youth, given the author's tendency to discuss matters such as sexuality, violence, crime and so forth in an offhand way.

The second subtitle refers to the intended result; and should of course encompass both the main blog 'RiverCocytus' Blog' and the rest of the sections of the site: Music, Books, et cetera.

More About the Author

River Cocytus (sometimes RiverC) is a pseudonym used by this writer, artist and musician. He is also a web developer (use the contact form if interested in services.) He prefers his privacy, and thus does not reveal his real name.

Further, as of this writing, he is working for a small web development firm, and doing freelance work both on the web and as a pianist, organist and vocalist.

He is an unabashed Classical Liberal, meaning he holds that the goal of Individual Rights is Freedom (or Liberty), the duty of the state to uphold them, and the purpose of this Liberty to move towards God. 'He who is slave to the Compass has the Freedom of the Sea.'

If you have a correction about something I have asserted, an opinion or comment, it can be left in the comments section. If you prefer to do so privately, the contact form will suffice.

More About Sundry Other Things

'Raccoons' or 'Raccoonosphere' refers to Gagdad Bob's (of One Cosmos) joking reference to the Transdimensional Order of the Friendly Sons & Daughters of the Cosmic Raccoons - a play off of A fictional Freemason order. Which is to say, we're metafictional freemasons. Which is as good as being the fifteenth century Blacksmith's Guild for all that's concerned.

'River Cocytus' refers, as you may have guessed, to Dante's Inferno. The River Cocytus is the river in which Satan is frozen; it holds him fast and the more he struggles the colder and deeper the ice becomes.

River Uses a Canon Digital Rebel XTi for his photographs, and Adobe Photoshop for editing.

For any non-photographic art, it is most common that River uses Inkscape, a vector art program.

The News Aggregator is part of how I get my daily news, and I offer it as a feature to anyone who is registered. I'm considering a bunch of other features, but for the time being, it is not of much concern.

If you have any further questions, use the contact form. If I get the same question enough times, I'll post it here, with the answer. Otherwise, enjoy -- or at least don't complain ;)
